Hello current and future TTT Moderators. This is an introductory tutorial on how to properly handle a pending ban request under the TTT Ban Request section. In the past, some ban requests have either A) not been moved/locked properly after being handled or B) been mishandled in-game. Moderators are chosen for their unique ability to interpret/collect valid evidence in order to execute a ban as well as extensive rule and situation knowledge. all other prerequisites located under "How To: Promotion" thread in staff apps
Section A: Moving and Locking a Ban Request Once Completed.
Section B: Making Sure Ban Requests have Ample Evidence to Execute and Warrant a Ban
This is going to be a simple checklist that should be gone over mentally when handling a ban request.
Congratulations, you have now completed the introductory tutorial on how to properly handle a ban request beginning to end! ban on! *if necessary*
Section A: Moving and Locking a Ban Request Once Completed.
- Step One: Go to the bottom of the thread and look in the lower right corner, you will see a drop-down menu called "Moderator Options." It looks like this:
- Step Two: In that very same drop-down menu, select the option "Open/Closed Thread" under the "Standard Tools" tab. After selecting this option it should automatically close and the message box at the bottom should turn red. It will also say "Thread Closed" on the top right.
- Step Three: Navigate your way back to the Moderator Options drop-down menu and select the "Move / Copy Thread" option.
- Step Four: This is actually a two-step process. Under the "New Forum" drop-down menu, select the TTT Ban Request Archieve Section. Under "Method" select the first option, "Move thread" instead of the default section option. It is important that you choose the first option and NOT keep it at the default move and redirect option.
Section B: Making Sure Ban Requests have Ample Evidence to Execute and Warrant a Ban
This is going to be a simple checklist that should be gone over mentally when handling a ban request.
- Is there enough video/screenshot based evidence to support their case? i.e for rdm & leave, are there screenshots of both the user rdming and another screenshot of them leaving the server/leaving with a slay? note that going back into old logs to see if they are present in the next round is also something that can be used if evidence of leave is not provided.
- Is all the proper information provided? i.e correct steamid, name, format, etc.
- How long of a ban does the evidence/corroborative evidence warrant? Refer to MOTD and Staff Guidelines for typical ban lengths and ban lengths based on severity. Note: Some ban request situations are up to the discretion of Moderators handling the request but a first-level ban should not exceed a week in most cases.
