muddy ban request
#1
Offender's Name: muddy

Offender's SteamID: STEAM_0:1:178922885

Potential Witnesses: whole lotta people - fanta

Reason to Ban: Cheats

Proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7K1V1k12AY 14 mins of various clips i pulled from 3 separate times ive played with him, i have a few more not in here that i forgot to add but i feel this is realistically more than enough. Idk how long this person has been playing since i only recently came back but its pretty clear they have a soft aimbot or toggle they hit when they want to kill someone, some of these kills are probably legit but id wager that most of them are not. Shot at 5:25 has no recoil, and the final clip is him hitting perfect bhops on the bottom of crummy cradle which is entirely uneven ground. I could go into further detail bout some of this but i dont wanna write too much.

I don't have any evidence myself but when I first joined the server and noticed the way he b-hops and flicks to certain targets did always strike me as suspicious, some shots and some hops feel like they aren't cheats while others do, so potential on the toggling, especially with the g-mod playtime he does have. I myself have noticed a couple hops that are very suspicious on such thing as stairs, and other uneven surfaces where he still maintains speed or even gains speed but I'm uncertain if he has any sort of bunny scripts but I do agree with the potential soft aim, I've very rarely seen him miss and when he does it seems like hit-reg. things that strike me as suspicious would be things like 4:44 of your video, where muddy shoots quite a ways from the target and still hits him in the head, but again this could just be "gmod being gmod"

Edit* - 5:25 is pretty blatant soft aim, if you watch in 0.25 he over swings by a tad and it immediately snaps onto the head.

I don't think muddy is hacking, but I also want to say I am very disappointed that I heard that people have been harassing muddy because they think he is hacking. You dont harass someone just because you believe they are doing something bad, fucking pisses me off when people decide to do that.

(Incoming Bias for My NEPHEW) I watched the full 14:00 and I have to say that there were only a handful of sus shots from the whole video. The sus shots could be chalked up to spectator view compensation/jank. The toggling you speak of is literally just missing shots and not getting headshots imo, and you'd have to be literally the best toggler known to man to toggle on/off that fast. The bhop clip at the end is eh because you can still get bhops off on uneven ground, it's just much harder to adapt and muddy clearly is struggling in the beginning with his hops which is unlike a bhop script which would get it first try and zoom faster than he's going.

I'm gonna give a -1 to the ban request on the basis that there isn't enough proof beyond reasonable doubt. People are treating muddy like he's guilty when we normally do things on an innocent until proven guilty basis. I don't think there would be enough evidence for a ban to stick.

-1ing someone's post for saying that harassment is bad is fucking wild btw

I never said this, and painting me as someone that supports harrasment is even worse, try not to assume based on a -1 to a post that I "agree with harassment" that is simply disgusting. I -1ed it cause I believe provided nothing to the actual conversation being whether or not muddy is cheating, and would result in the forum post delving into something it shouldn't be.

simple terms: NO, harrasment is not warranted, obviously.

BTW regarding the B-Hops to me they look just as normal as when Syn, Laced, Grasse, Caribou, and some of our other players that can hit over 1500 vel even on the bottom floor of Crummy.   But then again I can never spot B-Hop hacks unless they are blatant which this is definitely not. .

I think it is fair to be suspicious and want to look into this further based on what I saw in the video. I am not super familiar with how to recognize cheating in non-blatant situations, which if muddy is cheating, he is anything but blatant. I believe muddy is very good at the game, and I know there is a tendency to believe players who are very good at something are less likely to cheat. I think it should be made clear that this isn't the case, someone who is particularly competitive may want to cheat for that extra edge and to be the best player in a given setting. It is harder to find clear evidence of someone cheating in that type of situation because they need less from the cheats to get to the same point as a worse player.

I do not feel confident in giving an opinion either way as to if muddy is cheating, and I would want to see more evidence and hear from muddy himself before I give a decisive opinion. There's enough reason to be suspicious and look into it in further detail, however is feasible.

In regards to bhopping, I doubt he's scripting. While I'm not nearly as good as Muddy, I can still (on a good day) reach his speeds. If there was ever a suspicion of cheating, I'd looking into signs of soft aim, but even that's stretching it. For all I know, he's just a kid with free time on his hands to get good.

To start with an anecdote without any of my own evidence to back it up, I just want to mention that there is nobody else on the server who lands anywhere close to the frequency of first bullet headshots on me as muddy does. There are a lot of talented players who frequent the server with great aim, eor being a great example, and including others like fanta & caribou. Most of the time, while they will beat me in gun fights, there's usually a quick exchange of a few bullets before I lose (and sometimes even win!). Against muddy, I'd wager it's somewhere between 70% and 90% of the time that I'm killed on the very first shot he takes at me. That's a statistical anomaly.

While I haven't taken the time to gather my own evidence, eor's video is great evidence and gives me a chance to produce some numbers. What really stands out to me is how ugly many of the missed shots look compared to his typical one-tap. I did a count of every single person muddy attempted to kill in the video: Out of the 70 attempts, muddy killed on the very first bullet 45 times. That's a headshot kill on the very first bullet 64% of the time.
  • What's more interesting is what happens when you split the video in halves. The first "half" of the video is almost entirely close to medium-range encounters on maps like stadium, innomotel, and clue. In that first "half", which includes the first 26 attempted kills, muddy killed on the first shot 21 times, ~81% of the time.

  • In the second half, on maps like everton, community bowling, and dinkleberg12, he used the rifle much more often, at a greater range. The rifle has a fair amount of bloom, introducing a significant amount of randomness to each shot at range. Because of this, a notable drop-off in accuracy occurs. On those maps, in the second "half" of the video, muddy made 44 kill attempts. Of those, muddy killed on the first shot only 24 times, killing on the first bullet only 55% of the time.

I also really want to emphasize eor's mention about the perfect bhopping on the ground level of crummycradle. This is the most conclusive evidence of cheating in the entire video. It seems like he isn't even paying attention to the ground when he goes, focusing more on strafing. If that's not scripting, idk what is.

As a closing suggestion, perhaps there could be some kind of addon that would track combat stats of each player and store it in a database? I think that would be nice to reference in these kinds of situations.

-1.

bro is him
(suspected person has good aim and knows how to hop. dunno what else to say?)

further explanation: muddy has good crosshair placement, and (i think hes a t in more than one clip), should have the ability to have radar, thus getting more knowledge of where others are. So chalking up additional 6th sense (limited) to radar.

are the flicks sus? mabye when taken out of context, or by themselves. But muddy also has times where they go to aim and whiff.
if muddy was using aim cheats, even a "soft aimlock", it wouldnt really explain his aim overall.

is the stopping sus? mabye? no? some people as T will stop when caught. dont really get it but sure.

is the hopping sus? no, dude is airstrafing. leads back to flicks/aim. dude has good mouse control.

so no, I think this player is legit, and higher skill.
Incepimus, Nunc et semper.
This means that "we begin, now and forever", and translates as "always we begin again"
What this actually means is that we should always strive to better ourselves, because tomorrow is a new day.
I hope you take it to heart. Remember, an improvement, no matter how small, is improvement.
