#21
I love Ryan +1
This isn’t a shitpost
I’m speaking my mind

+1 Ryan deserves this with all the stuff he deals with on the server. He is one of the most active moderators on the server and is a big help and has big goals for the future of dinkleberg

Coming back to say that Ryan isn't afraid to hold people accountable for their incompetence and that's why he should be an admin.

With the other 3, you have the following:

TDawg: Inactive due to school (Reasonable, as school takes priority).
Chibill: Good with coding, not the best at communicating with people (Not a diss, just a truth)
Tiefling: Argued with Chibill on a public thread (which Ryan had to call her out for, and she finally shut up, but you will never see an apology for poor leadership displayed from her).

The "3 is a perfect amount" argument is not good here. That would only be appropriate if you had 3 people who worked as a cohesive unit, not a divided clique who argue on public threads.

Also, in the past, we have had 4 admins on TTT before (Battons, Bryan, Dong, Nicol is the most recent I believe), so there is no reason to deny that from happening again; unless of course, Ryan is deemed insufferable.

Obviously only say what you feel comfortable with, but do keep in mind that if you have issues with an admin applicant, making them and the admins aware may be constructive.

A little sidebar here, along with a reminder to, after this, keep it civil, on topic, and constructive to the app. This is not something I want a back and forth on, it's just how it is.

Certain people bringing up Tief and what they perceive as shortcomings constantly recently is getting ridiculous. Arguments happen. Disagreements happen. They are human nature. We saw a lot of passive aggression from previous admins towards each other as well, you bring up Tief in that negative of a way because of feelings towards her. These are also people that are largely not participating in the community except to talk on the forums, which is even more annoying. Please stop doing this on every thread.

Also TDawg was inactive for one month because of the holidays, not because of school, and is back.

Ryan,

I am happy to see that you have an interest in wanting to continue improving the community. I commend you for wanting to make some changes that have been impossible to do in the past (demoting inactive staff), and I wish you luck with it if you do get the rank. One of the shortcomings of the community as of late is the draw to return day-to-day to play the game. As you know, the frequency of updates has been very minimal over the past year you have been staff, which in my opinion has led to many leaving the community. I applaud you for wanting to add creative ways to keep community members returning to play.

A question I have for you though is what makes you unique to becoming an admin? There are currently 3 other admins that the community has. What’s missing in the team currently that you believe you could fill the void of? I'm curious of this answer as I feel there needs to be a purpose for adding an additional person to this role.

No vote yet until your response.

Hey bryan, these are excellent questions that Ill answer in two parts.

The first one is easy: Ill bring different ideas and opinions to the table. Many of them drawn from my time spent in other communities. I'll be trying to bring in ideas and practices from those communities to try an improve what we already have (things like demoting inactive staff). I believe that it wouldnt be beneficial to the community to have someone trying to bring in these new ideas so the server feels less stagnant.

The second one is a bit more complicated: I cant pretend to know what happens behind the closed doors of admin discussion, but one thing has seemed pretty apparent from some of the public posts; the infighting. There is way too much tension in the tone of some of the posts made, and it needs to stop. I dont know if I could help, but I'd like to think there is some way to ease that tension from within. As for what I can bring that is missing; training new staff. New staff get promoted and dumped into the server as as they are. There are many tmods and mods to help them out, but it is my belief that something more formal is needed. I'd like for there to be a 10-15 minute mini-training session while we wait for Dinkleberg to promote staff so that we can gauge their experience and where they may need support when starting their new role.

You mentioned the lack of updates and not enough happening in the servers to make people want to hop on (especially veterans in the community). One idea I've proposed before, verbally, is a different way to do seasonal events. Rather than have boxes with seasonal cosmetics and skins, I'd like to make them achievement based. It would look roughly like this:

Common Item 1: Get 50 headshots with the rifle
Common Item 2: Kill 50 people as a Tratior
Uncommon Item 1: Spend 50 hours on the server
Uncommon Item 2: Kill 20 Traitors
250 Premium Points: Survive 30 rounds
Rare Item: Kill 250 people
Legendary Item: Kill 10 people in 1 round as a Traitor

Now these would have anti-RDM measures such as not counting kills against the same team (inno on inno/D or T on T), and would have time limits for how long you can obtain the items. This would create a sense of urgency for anyone wanting to collect the more rare items. My only issue is that I dont have the technical knowhow, currently, to turn these ideas to reality. I have never worked with Pointshop2 behind the scenes, nor have I ever worked with our Skins manager.

I hope this answers your questions! If you have anything more detailed to ask me, or need any clarifications to my response, feel free to let me know.

-1 every community you've been apart of has meet it's end shortly after.

On another note even when you're busy you are always helping your staff mates like getting on during your own special needs class and helping them, you've shown you can be neutral, level headed and not bias, I'd like to think that you'd be the most fit for a leader role because well you've done it multiple times you have experience doing it and have shown that you're able to , even as a mod you are often very proactive, helping, answering and seeking answers that we as a community ask. I really don't think it's a good idea to apply for admin but hey if you want to do it more power to you +1.

Also you suck at catching my alt.
