It's almost Halloween.....

Anyone have any spooky stories to tell? As in ghosts, aliens, cryptids or anything else of that sort. I'll start out by sharing one of my own. Two years ago my Dad and I were driving back home late in the night after being done with work. Since the area was unfamiliar as all the roads were surrounded by forest so we used a gps to guide us. For whatever reason the gps haywire as it attempts to guide us through the woods rather than through any street. My dad yelled at me in frustration as I failed to fix it then we heard merry go round music. I attempted to find the source of the music within the car but I couldn't find it anywhere. Then there was the laughter. It was high pitched like that of a child yet bearing malice. My dad began to realize what was going on and turned his shirt insideout. He told me to do the same to which I initially refused to due to it sounding stupid considering the situation but I eventually gave in. It all stopped. The music and laughter gone while the gps went back to guiding us through a normal route. My dad then explained to me what had happened. A "duende" is what he called it. An elf of mexican folklore but it was nothing like the fairy tales. They are grotesque looking and were more goblinesque and demonic. This specific version of duende was the "chaneque" the soul of a child who had died unbaptized. They lure people into the forest under the pretense of guiding them to safety when in reality their objective is to get their victims lost in the woods so they can prey upon them. Turning your shirt insideout was one of the only two ways to break their spell. What such a creature was doing in North Carolina I am not certain or if it truly did exist but then again where would I be if I didn't turn my shirt insideout? There is so much in this world that we don't understand and never will.

1) My friend and I went to explore this abandoned golf course roughly 15-20 minutes from me, has a bunch of creepy satanic shit in the basement too just for future reference. We get there at like 11:30pm and while we're walking up the path to get to it (almost looks like a cornfield but it is just brush and shrubbery) we here a woman screaming and chains dangling ahead of us. Keep in mind at this point the golf course is probably another 5 minute walk, but it sounded like it was right on top of us. We sprinted away and that was that.

2) I went camping with friend listed above and the rest of our friends. Was pitch black and late at night whenever I saw a shadow behind one of my friends. Only source of light was the campfire we had.

3) I got mugged by a dude with a knife

4) Was riding four wheelers with one of my exes and we stumbled upon a bobcat.

5) To get to my basements, yes I have two, you have to go out on the back patio and go down these steps. My house is built on a hill and my basements are built into the foundation. Well, one of them has this window and whenever I was little I saw the face of an old lady.

I'll share a story that happen to me when I was very young,

I used to lived in an old house that looks like an old British country side style home

Every night at 9 P.M. sharp loud footsteps can be heard pacing back and forth in the hallways to all the bedrooms and every time someone check it out, there no one there.

My room itself felt something has been living and staying there by the temperature of the room being colder than the others as well as my bed having random dents that appears of someone had been sitting on my bed waiting for me.

I then ask my parents why this activity been going on and they responded with, "When we brought the house there was a car accident that occurred a few weeks back nearby our home and the driver of the vehicle had pass."

By hearing that back story, as a kid I started to talk to the ghost as if it was alive and I had some lovely cold whisper near my ear of that ghost. The best one was a raspy voice of "Why no one can see me?" as well as the very cold chilling shoulder of a cold hand grasping
my shoulder in a demanding way which I froze on my bed with no tears or no wailing for help, just silence.

When I got older, my family move and had taken everything in the home beside one television since we had too many at that time, 90s people with elephant thick TVs you know, as my mother and I left, the Medium Television that was in the room we named the kid's play room suddenly turn on with the standard colors of old TVs and then static...…then a loud whisper went though the television.

" Goodbye Ryuji and Ryuji's Mom "

(Fyi, my parents turn off all the electricity when we move so we don't get any bills for it)

After that occurred, my mother quickly pick me up and ran out of the house to join my father with the last of our items and move out of that property. As I turn back in the van looking at the house I was partly raised in, a shadow of a man stand at the window right by the front door towards the Living room was waving goodbye to my family and when I look towards my parents and back, there was only a breathed white handprint left on the window of where the ghost stand.

Not really "spooky", but around 6 years ago at 2:30am our ATV had an electrical fault and caught fire directly beside our house. We're in a rural area, fire department is about 20 minutes out, only one extinguisher, and very poor water pressure. 11 year old me was very much wondering if I was about to lose my house.

4 years ago I worked at a high end retirement facility as the Assistant Director of Maintenance. On occasion I would visit the facility late at night to verify the security systems were operating properly (cameras, alarms, etc.) It was around 2am on a Saturday, my office is on the 3rd floor and at night half the lights are shut off in the hallways to save on energy cost along with preventing excessive light from entering residents rooms from under the door. I am exiting my office on one end of the building and notice on the opposite side of the building at the fork in the hallway is a person standing there looking at me. They're around 70 meters away and in the dim lit hallways so I can't make out who it is, I begin to approach them incase it's one of our residents sleep walking; as I start to get almost close enough to identify who it is they turn down the hallway just out of my view, I walk faster and arrive at the hallway a few seconds later only to find no one is there. None of the doors had been recently closed as they make a distinct click sound upon closing, I checked all the doors in that hallway to make sure they were secure, they were all secure.

Later that day (being Saturday still) I got called into work for a maintenance thing, upon completing the task I decided to play back the camera feed from 2am to see what it caught.  There was nothing there. I saw myself moving down the hallway then my steps quickened but nothing else on the cameras.  Nobody else was in the hallways that night but me.

This is one of the MANY experiences I had while working at this Facility. Also got the Nickname Dr Sleep from working there.

Oooooo YES here we go.

Okay so I used to work at the Royal BC Museum and worked night shifts, I would usually be stationed on the third floor for the cleaning - this was the old town on one side and First Peoples on the other side. I would often smell a cigar being smoked, and it wasn't part of any exhibits. I would often hear a mans voice say "The doctor is in" - Doctor Helmcken was the Pioneer doctor in Victoria BC where I live, and his house is still on the grounds - Ill go more into that later.

As well, I would often see a man in a white coat walk through the galleries - keep in mind, I am the ONLY person on this floor, its night shift, and I am alone, the rest of the team is on Second and Main floor. I was cleaning the Old Town once listening to Slayer on top volume in my headphones, I heard a little girl say "Hi, my name is Sarah!" which obviously is NOT in any of their songs. I had a phone call from my mom once, and I answered her while I was using the backpack Vac - which is super loud so again I had headphones in. She stopped me mid conversation and was like, who is calling your name? And Im like oh, what okay. So I turn off the vac and take the headphones out and yell out "Hello?" and I waited and heard nothing. So I put the headphones back in and my mom was FREAKING THE FUCK OUT yelling at me "Who the FUCK is that?! They are growling your name!" like, my FULL LEGAL NAME. No one called me by my full name. No one ever calls me by my full name.

So back to Helmcken House and the doctor! I had a call once that they thought they had rats or mice in there dead in traps so I had to go and clear them. But because Helmcken house is so old and historic security had to escort me, so I was going with my buddy who was security and we got inside the house in the foyer and he was like aight, so you need to check all the rooms and be careful on the attic stairs because they are narrow yadda yadda, and im like??? are you not coming with me??? and he was like "Absolutely not. They dont pay me enough to hangout with the doctor." and im like okay pussy whatever. So I do my rounds and check all the rooms downstairs, make my way up to the second floor and then the attic and Im looking for the traps and there is nothing there but it TOTALLY does smell like something died in there (lol). So I cant find anything and go to leave down the other set of stairs from the ones I came up and I heard someone RUNNING FULL SPEED behind me and almost broke my fucking ankle running down to the foyer and the guard was outside of the house. I was like what the FUCK that is not cool I almost killed myself running down the stairs dont fuck with me like that. He started to laugh nervously and said "Did you try to leave down the other set of stairs?" and I was like "yeah dummy????" and he said "I knew it. Everyone who tries to go down those stairs gets chased and we dont know why". So that was the LAST fucking time I went into Helmcken house.

Also attached to the Museum is the Mungo Martin House - which is first peoples and a traditional longhouse. The Chief of the tribe had past way before I started work there and they had it closed due to respect to the community, so once they had reached the end of their mourning process for the tribe they had me go in to do a quick once over of the house so they could hold a ceremony. That was spooky because you could see shadows moving around the edges of the fire room, but it was a super beautiful place and really tranquil.

I have like, SO many more stories but this is all i can muster up right now

Spooky stories? No ghosts aren't real and your stories were funny to read.

Real, factual stories that actually happened that were scary, being robbed at knife point for a few measly dollars and a pack of smokes. Also watching a girl I cared for overdose and almost die was pretty fucked up. Real life is the real scary story.
