PsychoMike21 Staff Application

I would like more context to the screenshot. As a rule I don’t take any screenshots of isolated messages because context is so important. What cherry said is also correct, tho. There are too many times where people go too far and cross a line, even if they think it’s classic online banter. There are people behind the screens. Even outside of that, tho, the message itself violates at least 2 rules.

I would like to hear from tiefling about the context and timing before officially making a decision on whether or not to -1 or +1, but I am removing my +1 for now.

Edit: If that screenshot is 6 months old, why no warn?

Yeah, this is where I’m at. More clarity is needed. Gonna also keep it at a neutral for now for the same reasons.

Some time around the end of last year.

I told him he was being weird, which just seemed to make it funnier to him. I don't think not sexually harassing people should need to be a learned behavior for staff.

What is this even supposed to mean
It's literally just a screenshot of a message he sent

There is no context. It was a random message out of no where, I've barely interacted with him.

It's often easier to advocate for others than for yourself, especially when certain parts of the community love to come out of the woodwork to defend this kind of behavior and spin it into an interrogation of the person coming forward about it.

Tiefling needs to clarify some things with this screenshot for context.  When was this screenshot taken/when did this offense occur?  Was there any punishment associated with this DM (a ban or warning)?

I agree that the message sent is inappropriate, I won't argue that.  However, he has no record of any bans on the server (if this were recent, a warning/temp ban would have been issued for harassment following the staff guidelines and this application wouldn't have been open for several weeks).  Was this behavior discussed with him so he can improve and learn from it?

I have not seen this type of behavior displayed by him since this application has been posted (and well before this application was created for that matter).  This appears to be more of an attempt to derail this application (especially considering no one else has mentioned this type of behavior and it was overall positive feedback from the community and staff).

thank u for ur important contribution to this conversation...

I know a lot of staff usually don't warn for harassment against themselves because it's harder to judge if it is worth making a rise out of the issue especially if it was posted to staff discord and didn't have a lot of feedback from other staff at the time (i do remember seeing this message at some point and don't remember the responses to it) Also another thing is that one off comments are always hard to judge, a lot of times in my experience that kind of thing I was told to mark as a verbal and only warn if the behavior continued and to watch for it.

Even if it is an old message it is good to know about previous old behaviors so it can be watched out for in the future or if any other slightly concerning behavior has been seen it can also be reported. It doesn't necessarily mean Mike is denied, but it is a mark against him at this time. Information about these things should be known for those asking to be part of the community management.

I went back and looked again, you shared that screenshot with staff back in early November, so 6+ months ago.  My point still stands, he should have been punished/banned back then if it was a more serious offense, especially a random DM out of nowhere and especially if that's how he acted after you had a discussion with him about it (which I would think if you have screenshots/video of that message, you would have screenshots/video of your discussion after the fact with him too that you could share to show his continued weird behavior that day).

I'm still firmly against using this against him on his staff application.  People can learn, people can change, and understand why things are inappropriate.  You don't have to like him for his past comment to you (and I understand if you don't), but if it doesn't apply to his current behavior and attitude on the server, then I don't see it as relevant to this application.

As for the derailing comment, if this was still a pressing matter for you, why didn't you bring it up immediately when his application was posted and discussed? Why not ask other staff and community members if they've seen this behavior recently?  It was dropped on his application out of the blue with no information behind the screenshot, leaving a lot of people thrown off and confused.

these out of character comments are crazy. did you guys know that laced would be the way that he was? i’m sure you guys all really know each other well.

guys just add this onto the google doc let’s get to page 30 asap

wait it’s kinda crazy too u wanna talk about old screenshots and your group used exactly old ass screenshots to incriminate tief with the previously mentioned google doc.

This has nothing to do with clique shit or who's friends with whom, so leave it out of this.  Tiefling has shown proven deceptive behavior by snipping screenshots without giving full context, so when a screenshot is dropped out of nowhere with no information tied to it, people are allowed to not trust it and are allowed to ask questions about it and comment if they think it's valid to hold it against his application.  PsychoMike has no ties to anyone in any of my friend groups (or the specific one you are referring to), so this whole rant is unnecessary.

Also Edit: "I don't think not sexually harassing people should need to be a learned behavior for staff." you might want to reword this because the way it reads is that you think staff should sexually harass people...

I forgot I put it there, and looking at the lack of a serious response to it just further explains why I didn't feel like pressing it further at the time. He responded in vc, and no I didn't record it, it wasn't a long conversation.

You don't see all of the discussion that happens.

Debunked, actually.

This is a wild statement as a staff member on a staff application please calm down.

I didn't say that's what she was conveying in her message, I was saying that the poor grammar and double negative in that sentence makes it read that way, so she should reword it to not convey the wrong message.

Oh and don't worry, you won't have people jumping on your back because you misread what I said and told a woman to calm down :^)

If you're gonna incite this drama again by mentioning this individual at least get the group he was associating with right...
