Rox5tar01 For Trusted 2024
#1
Ingame Name: Rox5tar01

SteamID: STEAM_0:0:219519159
Discord Tag: Rox5tar01

Time Played: 106 Hrs.

When First Joined: August 14th, 2017. However, I've become a LOT more involved in the Dinkleberg community over the last five months.

Availability (Approx. times you play, and time zone): CST Timezone, but I work on-call so my schedule is always Topsy Turvy.

Rank Desired: Trusted

Current Rank: Regular/Donor

What can you do to help the community: I often find myself online in off-times of the server. Usually, these are times when no Trusted or above players are online. Because of that, there are plenty of times when a dirty stinky meany poopy head will join who like to do everything in their power to stop people from enjoying TTT, either by mass/repeated RDM or just generally ruining the fun of TTT for others. I can't stop every bad apple who joins Dinks TTT from being a dirty stinky meany poopy head, but I can do what I can to make Dinks a better server for all.

Why you want to help the community: Well, I personally hate seeing a dirty stinky meany poopy head ruining everyone's fun, and while !ttthelp does help sometimes, there isn't always someone available to answer the call of duty. So, it's just a case of "being the change you wanna see in the world".

Have you been previously banned, or do you have active warn points? (Link Relevant Posts): No, I have never been warned/banned.

Have you previously applied for staff? (Link Relevant Posts): No.

How did you find us?: I believe back when I originally joined (2017) it was just a case of idly browsing the server browsers. I eventually stopped playing GMod (I'd occasionally hop on but it was pretty inconsistent), but came back after many many years. Saw Dinklebergs TTT in my server history list, and saw that the server wasn't filled with dirty stinky meany poopy heads. I grew fond of the community, and many months later here we are today.

Did you fill out the required scenario questions for rank you are applying for? (Links under requirements in format thread): Yes

Other: High sus on Eam

+1 You've checked off all criteria and have had no behavioral issues, so I don't see why not.

I don't play often enough to cast a vote, but I think if your first reaction to hearing that someone got a slur warning is "what slur did they say?" to gage how likely it would be to get the warning appealed is a pretty shitty mindset to bring into staff and I'd argue that it's telling that you wouldn't be able to staff objectively.

I also havent been active enough to cast a vote, but I have to hard disagree with this. What constitutes a slur is many times a matter of opinion. Rox, being relatively new asked a question because they didnt know for sure what we consider a slur.

Which slur and the context surrounding it's usage both play a factor in the moral severity of the offense, which would definitely have an impact on the chances of a warn appeal being accepted. Reading back on the conversation you are referring to, I see that is exactly what Rox was doing, and in the end, said that the warn would be very unlikely to be successfully appealed.

You were immediately hostile and began antagonizing the person who got banned. Rox, on the other hand, was the epitome of objective. They didnt know what happened, so they gave neutral answers to someone who was complaining about the warn and then came to a reasonable conclusion once they found out the context. They even explained why it can be a good idea to appeal a warn even if it's likely to be denied.

+0 for now. I just wanted to say my piece on this.

"What constitutes a slur is many times a matter of opinion" Sure, that can definitely be the case. Framing it as "people get offended at the littlest things" as if there isn't any rhyme or reason to why words become slurs reads like someone who won't be objective and will consider situations like being called certain slurs as lesser because the impact they think the slur has as opposed to the person who was called the slur. It reads like they were gonna say "Oh, that's not that bad" if it were something other than one of the more well known slurs.

Heyo,
We’ve played quite a bit together over the past month. For the most part you’ve been enjoyable, but this morning I witnessed you queue a pretty obscene audio clip at the end of a round while there was a younger member of the community on. If you can be more mindful of the server’s atmosphere I will be able to support this application, as I have no other issues, but for now I will stay neutral. +0
Im sure you’ll make great staff at some point.

Mr. Star01...

You have been a pretty active community member and have largely been a force for good on the server. I cannot recall in recent memory any issue regarding understanding of the rules nor any issue with getting along with fellow players and staff alike.

The issue regarding the queue, I which I fortunately was there to witness, was a lapse in judgement for sure. Especially with that kid online, certainly not ideal nor a good look for someone with an open application.
That said, you took the verbal warning just fine and I'm not sure it necessitates further action via warn points. I would like to see more mindfulness going forward and trying to set an example for other players and how to act.

+1 based on an otherwise good reputation.

Howdy Rox5tar - I'm gonna begin real quick with a -1. This is far from a permanent -1, but there are a few things I'd like to see improve before I give my blessing here.

First of all, I'm a very big fan of server activity, and I think that's where my biggest gripe comes in with your app. At just 106 hours, mostly spread out over the last ~5 months, that's only a bit over 20 hours a month. I'd like to see that increase a decent bit for someone who's shooting for staff.

Secondly, in my experience, being a staff member requires decent fundamental communication skills. As you're someone who doesn't use a microphone (to my knowledge), my expectation for how well you're able to communicate over text is raised significantly. As of now, you haven't really convinced me that you'll be able to communicate server rules/information/disciplinary actions effectively through the chat to new players or troublemakers.

Finally (and this is probably my least important point here), I know you're no stranger to minor behavioral issues. I believe you even had a recent warn if I'm not mistaken. Keeping things fun and lighthearted is an often undervalued aspect of being a staff member, but there is a point where it can go too far and I want to make sure you know where that boundary is. One of the things that would help me get a better idea would be more server playtime on your end, to my first point.

Anyway, I don't think any of the above 3 points are necessarily disqualifying on their own. If you're able to improve on a few, or (better yet) all of those things, I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring for you. Best of luck, and I hope to see more of you soon!

Hey Rox5tar01. The Admin team has decided to deny your application at this time. Your reapply date is 12/12/2024.

I still feel you are still new to the community and over the next moth would like to see more active involvement on server and adjacent spaces. (have seen you on the discord keep that up) More importantly, I want to give you more of an opportunity to settle in. Both to develop a better understanding of what is expected behavior for staff and to build more of a connection with other players.
I have no genuine regrets. You lot can go fuck yourselves, I'm done being treated like a piece of shit in your servers. Every day I'm on it's 1rdm after the other and then I'm called every slur and name in the fucking book. Tell the others to go fucking die in a fire cause I am fucking over it. And when I try to do something about it, I'm the "staff abuser". nah go fuck yourselves
