I still think the term "grapple exploiting" is stupid. This only happens because of how stupidly broken the jump pack is. Remove the jump pack, exploit goes away.

Also, mods haven't enforced this rule on ANYBODY since it was labeled an exploit. The last person I can recall being told off for it was myself, when Nicol told me he'd ban me the next time he saw me doing it, and then didn't follow through on it. Either it's okay or it isn't. Pick one.

If we're using this thread to discuss the ethics of grapple exploiting, it's inarguable that TTT was not designed around that level of hypermobility and it shits up the game to have people flying around the map at warp 9.

Using the grappling hook+jump pack to gain horizontal velocity is an exploit and should be punished as such. I have warned people for it but tend to be fairly lenient unless it continues.

Recently me (before donor change) and jammin had noticed the number of people doing it had suddenly sprung up and had to give verbal warnings because they were actually flying around the maps during the round.

So no. People were aware it wasn't allowed. And the only reason that no other staff could be warning is because the current staff team right now has barely had to remind anyone since the majority of them are from a newer wave and those that did warn people have gone inactive. The majority of regulars were already aware they could be banned for continuing to do it. So every time some idiot starts it up again, everyone starts doing it until it starts being cracked down.

Well, as the rules currently are, the videos are grapple exploiting. As the player has received warnings in the past for exploiting, the player has been banned for a day.
